Bulgogi Brothers

Assalamualaikum wbt...

Hey you, how was your Friday night? Thought I heard you yell TGIF TGIF once every hour at the office.

No wait, that was me. Haha!

Fridays are simply the best-always do my little count downs to 6 pm because that's when they let the labor out where I work. And the best thing is when your boss invited the whole department for dinner. Free meal, woot. I like!

I still remember when we was invited to a Brazilian restaurant for dinner, it was two years ago.

This time around we were invited to a Korean food restaurant, Bulgogi Brothers which is located at Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya.

You can review their awesome restaurant here.

Tucked in sidewalk of Paradigm Mall, this restaurant caters to a small crowd, oozes cosiness and was certainly inviting. The local and foreign waiters were really friendly and helpful, and most definitely the providers of entertainment of some sort for the night as we tried to learn the Korean language and were briefed about the food names before dinner.

We had the combination of kimchi, banchan, lotus roots and seafood pancake for appetizer.
It is called 'Haemul Pajeon'.

Then came the main courses; chicken and beef Bibimbap which was absolutely delicious I swear.
These were down within minutes.
Bibimbap is a traditional Korean favorite which consist of rice, beef and vegetables. You can see all the ingredient before being mixed.

Roasted Chicken with Sweet Mango.

Our last item in the tasting menu was the beef platter or 'Kkotdeungsim Modum'. Its a combination of ribeye, boneless beef short ribs and beef brisket.

The beef were pretty juicy and not lacking in flavor, portion wise this dish isn't too bad either.

And despite having so many pictures up, we actually left the restaurant at 10.00 pm while the night still young. Fun fun dinner out. I'm definitely gonna visit here again :)

Papa's day weekend trip- Colmare Tropical Bukit Tinggi

Assalamualaikum wbt..

My mom and I had planned a weekend trip just to have fun, relax and celebrate our beloved man in life. I wasn't into a long holiday mood just yet since my mom was just being discharged from the hospital few days before the weekend. But this is the only weekend that we can spend time, relax and enjoy eating before the month of Ramadan. Mom suggested that we go to Bukit Tinggi in Pahang for 2D/1N. Well, I've never been to Bukit Tinggi, and mind you, we did a last minute hotel booking a day before. You can tell me how jam packed it was on the day we checked in the hotel. Sigh!

The French theme hotel- Colmare Tropical Berjaya Hills, Bukit Tinggi.I was quite impressive that they actually maintain this place well.

And look who's the happy girl when we got to check in the hotel room. It was very spacious that my lil princess can ran around here and there as if we're home.Cozy place!
Cute little feet.

We then proceeded to our lunch before went for sightseeing around the hotel.
This girl has many things to share with us during the meal. You can see from her expression..priceless!

Although we've climb so high, yet we do not feel any cold or breeze at all. I already told my mom to packed her sweater. Dude, it was hot as if we're in KL!
Well, there's nothing much we can do at night. Hubby choose to watch the stage performance with Aulia', while my dad went straight to his room after we had dinner. Mom and I went for foot reflexology which we enjoy it so much.

The next morning, we went to the Japanese Village. You need to walk quite a distance before you can reach to the village.Lucky I didn't wear heels that day or else my feet will be majorly damage.Teehee! Seriously, it took us a lot of effort to reach there!
This Japanese Village is dubbed as the world's only Japanese Village in a tropical rain forest, marking the uniqueness of the place and worth to visit.
Landscaping along the garden
Mom-baby duo!

Not far from the Japanese Garden, there was a Botanical Garden. It's divided into different area in which accessible by staircase along the route. One have to climb down and up in order to view and explore entire garden at once. We did it without much problem, easier than hiking.
My dad and I are a fan of sushi and we took this opportunity to have a brunch at the Japanese restaurant called Ryo Zantei which located inside the Botanical Garden.
We can viewed the Botanical Garden scenery from the restaurant and it was so refreshing when you're surrounded by trees and flowers.
The flowers at the Botanical were so beautiful that I wished I had a good camera to take all the photos but here are some photos that I managed to took with my Canon. I really hope I can improve a lot on my photographic skill in the future so that I can took photo like a Pro:)
Before we head home, we brought Aulia' to the Rabbit Farm which along the way back to Colmare Tropical entrance. Entrance fees are RM3 per head to get in, which is very cheap indeed. Beside rabbits, they do have other animals such as reindeer, peacock, guinea pigs and donkey.

There was where our proud moment when Aulia' requested to ride the donkey. We hesitate at first but since she insisted to ride on it and said she's not scared at all, we allowed her to ride the Donkey. So, this is her first Donkey ride and my husband was so excited he wanted to record the moment.
We spent some time here, taking pictures and there was also a small playground next to it, as well as a small petting zoo. The playground was also well maintained and clean with nice grassy area. Nice play to visit here especially for children they can learn about animals.

2 years 10 months-Almost THREE!

Assalamualaikum wbt..

My baby girl (not so baby) is going to turn Three another two months. Let see her progress..

Weight: 11 kilograms (still underweight, sigh!)

Height: 90 centimeters

Sleeping Habits:Nothing much different to report she goes to bed around 10, wakes up around 5am to nurse, and then back to bed until about 8. She takes two naps that are about 1.5 hours each. Her sleeping habits are the same whether I nurse her to sleep or if she falls asleep on her own bed.

Eating Habits: She still latching to BF and I'm working hard to wean her off (Somebody, anybody out there must help me with this). There are so many trials have failed. I'm trying to stick to nursing at night but she just always wants to all the time, plus she's still getting breakfast, lunch and dinner and ice cream and marshmallows and bla bla bla... At this rate she won't be weaned until she's 15. Grrr! She dislike rice very much. It's hard to force her getting the required calorie (that is why she is underweight).

Milestones: The past 10 months have been a language explosion. She can speak very well with good pronunciation. She can understand what we are saying. She can recite Doa too. It's a bit surprising that she can memorize it. Sometimes we got strike with shock when she came back from nursery with new words. Potty training is in progress by far.

Best Achievement: She's now sleeping in her own bed in her bedroom. Yeay!

Challenges: Temper temper. This kid doesn't get what she wants and it's a full on scream and punching action. I can't believe that she's almost three. I love this age. She's so curious and fun and funny. It just that she's befriended with boys, ya know!.

Loves: Chicken soup, Apple, Chocolate milk, Hi5 and her stuff Princess Elsa and Anna.

Hates: Rice, sleeping through the night, getting her potty routine and letting anybody sit down for a minute.

Super Luscious Smoothies

Assalamualaikum wbt..

Whoever thought of blitzing a bunch of fruit and vegetables and calling the results breakfast is brilliant. The smoothies has changed our morning and night routine as we know it, giving us sweet, portable fuel. Healthy fuel. This meal in a glass packs the most important part of the food pyramid into the most important meal of the day. Genius.

And smoothies are easy to make, to boot.I recently bought the Shake 'n' Take and feeling so giddy to buy all the fresh fruits from the local favorite fresh market- Hock Choon Supermarket.

You can see my mom wanted to wholesale all the fruits from the supermarket.Teeheee!

Every smoothies I make for Aulia' and hubby now contains the following ingredients:

Juice/ Vitagen: You will burn out the motor in your blender if liquid isn't the first thing into the carafe. True right? Every morning I start with some mango juice or Vitagen, because that's what my kid like. I can use milk, but I find the acidity of a citrus juice is the best for covering some of the other elements in the combinations we usually make.

Fruit: Next come some sort of fruit. I do buy bags of frozen fruit at the grocery store; I also cut up and freeze my own bananas regularly (remember I used to say our household do take bananas very seriously), as well as stocking up on fresh fruits in-season and putting them in the freezer when I can.

Yogurt: The last thing I put into the blender is yogurt.

Okay, so that's the basic smoothies recipe. As for variations, here's a few we like:

Bananas + Raspberries
Bananas + Strawberry
Bananas + Apple
Bananas + Watermelon
Bananas + Mangoes
Okay, fine, bananas + anything (you caught me)
mangoes + avocado
cherries or peaches +a tiny bit of almond
raspberries + blueberries + blackberries + avocado
Banana + your favorite nut butter (I' making sure that I have plenty of liquid for this, and I find this combo works better with milk than juice) (earn huge amounts of bonus mom points by adding a squirt of vanilla syrup to this one)

Other than the occasional bit of almond or a tablespoon of vanilla, I pretty much just throw fruits in the blender and see what happens. It's really, really hard to get it wrong.

Yummy!! Oh yes, I actually put a bit of almond on top of it but it sunken down in the smoothies. pfft! (mommy-chef failed)
