{Photo Dump} ISBOK Family Day, Wadi Samrah

Assalamualaikum wbt..

We are home from best vacation ever!! My family had a blast. My dad had smiles that went from ear to ear when he look at the pictures we had at Wadi Samrah. I capture all of our memories using my phone, luckily it does a pretty decent job. Tons of joyous pictures. All in all, Wadi Samrah is the best place ever to get together with your family!
And the best thing was that we own the 6 acres private land for three days two nights!! We have loads of fun swimming, barbecue, karaoke, telematches, fishing, playing, strolling around the private lands, and the best when we do it with families!

What greater blessing to give thanks for at a family gathering than the family and the gathering. ~Robert Brault.

ISBOK Family Day, Wadi Samrah

Assalamualaikum wbt..

For the past glorious week and a half, I've just been soaking it all in. Time off from work. All the family gathering joy.. Relaxation. Food. Cousins. Games. The end of good year. The beginning of a new one. And most importantly, lots quality time with my loves.

There have been way too many years that holidays has passed us by in a flurry of 'busyness'. Where I'd been so behind on my holiday to do list that I barely had time to pause and truly appreciate the joy of the anticipation and the spirit of the gathering.

But I can honestly say that's not the case this year. My cousin brother and I manage to gathered all family members from my dad's side. The descendant of Ismail and Bokyam (ISBOK). We stayed three days and two nights at Wadi Samrah, Janda Baik Pahang (www.wadisamrah.com) and had so much fun bonding with kids and elders. Alhamdulillah, everything that we've planned went all smooth.

My dad was so happy to had this gathering and meet his siblings, nieces, nephews and grandchildrens.

I took so many photos that I had a lot of trouble narrowing them down for this post. So I sort of didn't. Will share all photos in next photo dump post :) Till then!

Frozen

Assalamualaikum wbt..

I bet many parents out there are planning to bring their kids out for movie since its now a school holiday season. Typically, we as a parent, would bring our kid for movie too. Simply because we love to go out and have a family time :)

So last Friday night we went out and watch Frozen by Walt Disney. Despite all the Disney movies we've already seen this year (Monster University, Iron Man 3, Thor) I'd say this is a must-watch movie. Frozen is an adorable movie and I love how the story weaves in the theme of family and talks about the power of sisterly love.

When they were young girls, sisters Anna and Elsa were joyous playmates and inseparable friends. But Elsa's special power ability to turn anything to ice and snow in a flash from her fingertip comes back to haunt her when she accidentally zaps her sister. A magical troll king heals Anna and erases the event from her memory, but as for her sister's relationship, the damage is done.

Aulia' and I fell in love with the songs so much that the first thing we came home to search for them online and keep humming to them the entire weekend. Our favorite song being "Let it go".

The snow and ice animation was amazing. Olaf was my favorite. He delivers on the laughs. Aulia' loves Olaf too. She keep saying Olaf has carrot nose. Funny!

 Super excited girl.

I must say this girl is so much like Anna.

Aulia' and the Clay Craft

Assalamualaikum wbt..

Home sick with sinus infection and it literally 'winter' here in Malaysia.

We didn't went out the whole day not even for groceries shopping because of the rainy blues...Gosh, I missed the sun now.

Staying at home = lots of creativity festering in our house.

An attempt to create a caterpillar but she said geli!

The sunflower. Yes. because we missed the sun so we made sunflower :)

 Her own version of bus.

Her minion riding on the bus

Making the butterfly.

And finally, my biggest accomplishment this weekend involved crossing an item off my to-do list last month. Yeah!

Learn,Play and Being Human

Assalamualaikum wbt..

The manner in which we engage our children determines their core self image ~ My husband.

I always wanted to teach Aulia' the sound of each letter. I want her to learn colours, how does it look like, how to count numbers and how to write. One thing I've discovered from the very beginning of Aulia' second birthday, I want to enroll her to pre-school next year.

After being thinking and discussion with the hub for couple of months, I realized that I'm being too rush. Yes, it's true that pre-school nowadays has transformed into Standard One. This mean that my child will need to learn academics, listen and sit still. Boy, I don't want my child being miss-educated to the extent that she'll forgot how to play..  Knowing that she is just a two years old toddler turning to three next year, there is more than this and real teaching to be done in the subject of being HUMAN.

If I read to her and use descriptive language during the day, I know she'll be getting all of the academics she need for her age. I showed her colors, numbers and we sang the ABC song together.  In fact, she know how to count to ten. But that certainly doesn't mean that these lessons should be straight-jacketed onto her in her toddler years. Funneling down of structured learning is all the more reason to let my child play while she can.

For my husband, he is less concerned about raising a vessel that holds information and more concerned with raising a functioning human being. He believed that our main 'curriculum' is to help our daughter form basic social skills.  We need to help her navigate relationships. and all of these lessons begin at home and not at school (that's what he think). During these years, Aulia' soak up everything and imitate every single little thing we do. She remember when we asked her permission before picking her up or wiping her nose. She remember how we say thank you to people and offered help to someone. She also remember how we yell at the massive traffic jam. She see our kindness, generosity, love, our anger, selfishness and hatred. Every moment, good and bad, will become imprinted in who she become later in life. This is why my husband could care less about numbers, letters and shapes. He has a far, far bigger task at hand.

I am obviously not perfect and always striving to be a more understanding mother and wife, a more selfless friend and family member and generally much more aware of my own emotions and boundaries. If I don't actually achieve these things immediately (which I won't), my daughter will see my striving and this is what she will take into her adulthood: the self-awareness and flexibility to work towards becoming a complete and functional human being.

Oh December!

Assalamualaikum wbt..

I cant't believe December is already here. Seriously, this has been the fastest year of my life. It literally seems like I just planned my new year resolutions and now I only had merely 30 days to achieve all that. Checked, checked, checked!

My main goals this month is to work on our lil family trip for next year. I was so sorry for not having more time for my family for the past couple of weeks. I had so much works to do at the office preparing business proposal for upcoming projects and proposed schedule for next year. I skipped dinner with my family and by the time I'm home, my daughter has asleep. Sigh!

Last weekend we went up north to Perlis visiting the hub's Tok Wan. Tok Wan was sick. He admitted at Kangar General Hospital more than a week ago due to shortness of breath. We drove more than six hours from KL before we reach Kangar. My parents was following us visiting Tok Wan. Yesterday when hubby called up my FIL, Tok Wan was already transferred to normal ward and hopefully he can be discharge from hospital very soon.

December is gonna be a busy month for me. And I don't really like the weather now. Oh December, please be nice to me. Ow ya, I need more sunlight too! Thank you in advance.
