Women Empowerment Day

Assalamualaikum wbt..

My company's Public Relation (PR) and Marketing department organized an event called Women Empowerment Day. So women from all departments (Engineering, Procurement, Finance, HR,  Legal and Project Development Department) gathered today in the conference room to celebrate women, raise awareness of women's health and beauty and to make positive steps towards greater empowerment of women.

There was about 50 of us during that day and two speakers from M.A.K.N.A (National Cancer Council Malaysia) and BidanKota was invited to give a talk on health and beauty.

It serves as an important reminder to us in the company who work really hard to look after on our own health and inner beauty. The issue on cancer are myriad. But today the speaker from M.A.K.N.A was focusing on the breast cancer issues and understanding breast cancer. The representative from M.A.K.N.A was explaining on the pros and cons of the standard breast cancer screening tests, including mammography and clinical breast exam, as well as MRI. She explained on what happens if a test shows something abnormal. In rare cases, breast cancer can occur in men. Well, do you know about this? We just get to know it today.

The other interesting part of today's event was when the founder of BidanKota, Puan Safi Abd Rahman,  gave her speech on the traditional medication and massage especially for post-natal treatment. There was also a live demonstration on basic light make up for office, traditional tea making using ginger, lemongrass, and mas cotek leaf!

What I learned today:
Make your own lemongrass tea

2 lemongrass stalks
Honey or sugar to sweeten (optional)
Boiling water
I tea bag
Juice from ½ lime

1. Cut off the root end of the lemongrass stalk and remove any of the dry outer leaves. Gently bruise the base of the stalk with a rolling pin.
2. Tie the lemongrass in a knot ad place on a cup and sweeteners if using.
3. Pour in the boiling water. Add a tea bag and remove as soon as the water is golden brown.
4. Add lime juice to taste and serve with a lemongrass stirrer.

Just so you know, drinking a cup of lemongrass tea after a large meal will take away that full feeling and will aid in digesting the food just consumed along with helping to remove unhealthy food additives, chemicals and excess fats. It also aids in the relief of constipation, keeping the bowels working properly and removing toxins to keep our body healthy and energetic.  Interesting fact isn't it?

Adding more fun to this event, Puan Safi held a guess and win contest and we had a photo session before the event ends.

Again this month, the PR and Marketing Department will organize an event involving the employees and Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR). This is the first charity event organized by our company. There will be treasure hunt activity with 40 kids from RACTAR at Lake Garden Kuala Lumpur on 26 May 2013..

Well done PR and Marketing. We are looking forward for more events like this:)

Saving the best for the last-Me!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t..
B's nature of work leaves me with no choice but to be independent. His work schedule knows no weekends and public holiday. But a kaki jalan I am by nature and nurture, what if it's only me and Aulia'? bring it on! Nak keluar jugak! I thought  it was impossible at first but naaa, practice makes perfect, I am so used to it already, you'll be surprised of what I can do with only one hand. Haha The skills develop naturally. From folding stroller and do groceries shopping while pushing the cart and her stroller? I have done all that. But there are time I do need hands from strangers, and kudos to Malaysians, they're helpful. And I think this is the perfect bonding time because Aulia' is with her baby sitter during the weekdays.

So there are times, I'd love to doll up, but now I have a plus one! How? I doll her up as well! luckily she's a daughter, dear God thanks for being so understanding! I am grateful! Tutu you say?! Of course! and…

DIY Dulang Hantaran Fresh Flowers

Assalamualaikum wbt..

Last week was my BIL E-day. So I was assigned by my MIL to do the 'Dulang Hantaran' and it decorations including all the goodies inside the dulang.. since this is only the engagement event, not so much personal items to be included in the dulang except for the rings.. both for merisik and engagement..
Since last time during my Nikah day, I did the DIY dulang hantaran using the artificial flowers and this time around I was thinking to do it with the fresh flowers. I purposely wanted it that way just because I can save a lot of time (since I am way too busy with my PhD study and I have to travel to and fro KL-JB) and at the same time we can avoid the hustle of keeping the dulang covered with dust in the store room. Lol..talking about experience huh!
And most importantly.. we can save a lot of money.. Lemme show you the trick..

Sending off dulang for fresh flower decorations can cost you up to RM75 to RM150 per tray excluding the items inside the dulang. Mi…

Girls trip to Sabah

Memorial weekend after I had my HSG test, Mary, Kak Ju, Nini and I got to fly down to KK to spend three blissful days hanging out with our dear friend from uni, Jessica. The five of us studied together in UPM SIX years ago so we decided a reunion was a great excuse for me to ditch the husband and my little girl and have some serious girl-time in Sabah. Lucky for us Jess is an amazing host and planned everything out perfectly.

A few of the highlights were our stay at J Residence, the upside-down house in Tamparuli, Kundasang wet market, Desa Cattle Farm Kundasang, Luanti River Kelah fish spa and Sabah tea farm.

It was so refreshing to be with old friends and enjoy my first trip to north Borneo... and I can officially declare that I have covered most of the states in Malaysia (haven't cover Labuan yet!). yipsss!

My Instagram update for this photo: Waking up to this! -Our stay at J Residence Kundasang, the view is so breathtaking :)
Enjoying my morning view:)
